President Pratibha Patil mourns B.R. Chopra's death
New Delhi, Nov 5 (IANS) President Pratibha Patil Wednesday mourned the passing away of veteran director B.R. Chopra and said that India had 'lost a creative personality and a legendary filmmaker'.
'An acclaimed filmmaker, producer and director, B.R. Chopra shall always be remembered for his great films and serials such as the one on the epic, the 'Mahabharat' which became immensely popular. In his passing away, the nation has lost a creative personality and a legendary filmmaker,' she said in her condolence message.
Chopra died at his Mumbai residence in suburban Juhu Wednesday after a prolonged illness. He was 95 years old.
The director had made successful films like 'Naya Daur', 'Gumrah', 'Humraaz', 'Dhundh' and 'Insaaf ka Tarazu'.
