New Delhi, Nov 5 (IANS) Rambal Warriors coach Tom Moody feels the experience of playing in India will help his players in the Twenty20 Champions League, starting Dec 3.
Western Australia's Rambal Warriors qualified for the Champions League as runners-up in the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash competition. Marcus North will again lead the 15-member squad in the inaugural tournament.
However, much will depend on big-hitting trio Shaun Marsh, Luke Pomersbach and Luke Ronchi, who have the experience of playing in India. Marsh and Pomersbach represented Kings XI Punjab while Ronchi turned out for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
'Many of the players we have selected have experience playing in India, either with the Australia team or in the Indian Premier League (IPL) . Some were on pre-season tours sponsored by the the University of Western Australia,' Moody said.
'It is going to be a tremendous opportunity for all the players and management, and everyone is excited about playing on a global stage,' he said.
The Rambal Warriors have been placed in Group B alongside the Pakistan's Sialkot Stallions, IPL champions Rajasthan Royals and South Africa's Standard Bank Pro20 runners-up Nashua Dolphins. Group A has KFC Twenty20 Big Bash champions Victoria, IPL finalist Chennai Super Kings, Standard Bank Pro20 victors Nashua Titans and England's Twenty20 Cup champions Middlesex.
