Security teemed up in and around Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai
June 18: The temple authority of Mumbai’s Siddhivinayak temple has asked devotees visiting the temple not to offer flowers, garlands and coconuts for security reasons.

This order came after the recent terrorist threat to the city’s (Mumbai’s) twin World Trade Centre (WTC). According to Mumbai Police, the temple is also under a constant eye of terrorist attack.
Reportedly on Saturday, the Mumbai police received a threat through e-mail to blow up the twin towers located in South Mumbai. Though the e-mail is believed to be sent by a Nigerian but police is still investigating the origin of the mail.
As far as Siddhivinayak temple is concerned it is often crowded with thousands of devotees. The police have increased the security and safety measure considering the large inflow of people and devotees visiting the temple.
A senior police official in his briefing said, “Keeping in mind the recent threat sent by a letter and bomb blast in Mecca Masjid of Hyderabad, it becomes necessary to guard all religious places and important complexes.
Reportedly, the temple premises and the locality have been threatened earlier also and the temple has been surrounded by a bullet proof wall. Now an additional security and safety measures have been pushed to avoid any mishappenings. Mumbai police said it was a precautionary measure.
However, the police did not confirm whether there was any fresh news or threats to the temple and the official only told that it is only a preventive measure keeping in mind the importance of the place.
The security has been tightened with close circuit cameras and metal detectors for through investigation of the place and on regular basis.
