Elderly couple stabbed in Delhi; one dead
New Delhi, Nov 3 (IANS) An 80-year-old man was stabbed to death and his wife critically injured when they resisted a robbery bid in their south Delhi home early Monday, police said.
M.S. Gulati, a retired railway employee, and his wife Inderprabha, 75, were alone when the assailants entered their Sukhdev Vihar residence in south Delhi. The incident took place around 1:30 a.m. Monday.
"We found Gulati couple critically injured in their house. Both were having several stab injuries," DCP south H.G.S Dhaliwal said.
The couple was rushed to the AIIMS trauma centre where Gulati was declared brought dead while his wife is still battling for life, he said. Gulati's two children are working in the US.
According to the police, the four armed men entered the house by jumping the boundary wall and attacked the couple with knife several times when they resisted the robbery bid. The assailants decamped with Rs.17,000 in cash.
