For commemorating social justice week for Labour on May Day a “community social marriage of children of Disadvantaged Labourers” has been organised in the capital on Thursday.
In our Indian culture, marriage is considered as the pious relationship between a man and a woman, where the people marry for various reasons to get legal, social and economic stability.
The dark side of the fact related to marriage is not hidden from us when many women are divorced or burnt alive or killed by any illegal means only because the family members of distressed girls get themselves unable to meet the dowry demand of his/her daughters’ in-laws family members.
Worst of these are the social discrimination and humiliation of the underprivileged family members faces among the society whose daughter remains unmarried owing to paucity of wealth to shut the mouth of greedy and immoral people.
The chances of this dark side almost get diminished in the community marriage, where people of both sides- bride and groom- willingly participate in matrimonial function with the motto “no dowry demand.”
With the noble motive to access justice for all, a community social marriage has been organised by voluntary social institution “Shramik Referral Centre for People Living with HIV / AIDS” for the liberation of Daughters of Darkness of disadvantaged labourers.
The matrimonial ceremony will be held in presence of the chief guest the Honourable Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan and the co-chief guest Shiela Dixit, the Chief Minister of Delhi.
