Sandeep upstages Suyash in National junior squash
Chennai, Nov 1 (IANS) Sandeep Ramachandran, a class seven student of the Lady Andal School here, clawed his way back from two games down against a taller Suyash Sharma from Rajasthan to win his pre-quarterfinal match in the Boys under-13 section at the National Junior Squash Championships here Saturday.
After losing the first two games 7-11, 9-11, Sandeep, who shifted to Chennai from Dubai to pursue squash, pulled back to win the next two 11-5, 11-6.
The decider was a cliffhanger. Suyash, with a series of winners, raced from 6-6 to 10-6 match ball. With the match looking over, Sandeep showed his grit picking up every ball and played the remaining points to perfection.
Both players were charged up and Sandeep won the final game which went to the tie breaker 14-12.
In another exciting match between two Mumbai lads, Samir Mistry went down to Pranav Merchant after leading 2-0.
All top seeds who were in action Saturday, sailed through without any major problems.
