Justice after 26 years, ex-army officer held guilty
In Leo Tolstoy story God sees the truth but waits, the protagonist Askinov lived 26 years as a convict only to be freed later in life when he was absolved of the crime and already dead. Here, a retired Lt Colonel was convicted of murdering a man 26 years ago on Monday.
There is no connection in Askinov and Lt Colonel but it is the prolonged years that took to deliver justice and the satisfaction that ultimately justice arrived though very late.

On October 2, 1982 Krishan Sikand died when a parcel bomb blasted after being delivered to him, allegedly the country’s premiere investigating agency Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) proved that retired army officer S J Chaudhary was the mastermind that took Krishan’s life.
It found that Chaudhary was opposed to his ex-wife and Krishan’s proximity and their plan to get married. Threatened them for the same he chose this vicious step to kill Krishan with parcel bomb.
CBI in its investigation could able to find the typewriter which Chaudhary used to print Krishan’s address on the parcel. The investigating agency too questioned number witnesses, including victim’s father and Chaudhary’s estrange wife.
After examining the witnesses, Additional Sessions Judge Mamta Sehgal found Chaudhary guilty under Section 302 (murder) of IPC and under Sections 3 and 4 of the Explosives Act; the quantum of punishment will be announced on Wednesday (April 30).
Father of Krishan, H D Sikand took sigh of relief who was continuously on his toes to get his son justice who was murdered in a gruesome act.
