Who will tame Harbhajan's wildness?

New Delhi, Mon, 28 Apr 2008 Mukesh Thapliyal

It’s time to put reign on Harbhajan Singh’s rowdiness since it has started causing problems with in. The turbanator is been in the news for his boisterous on-field behaviour for quite some time in the recent past.

Harbhajan Singh is turning out to be the bad boy of Indian cricket following his altercation with compatriot Sreesanth after the game between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings XI on Friday in Mohali. The off-spinner has been temporarily suspended from the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL).

Harbhajan's fate will be decided in a hearing that will be held in the capital on Monday and a stern action is likely on the cards. BCCI top shots are determined to send out a strong message from their side.

Harbhajan and controversies have been going hand in hand in his 11-year long career. Earlier it was with the players of competiting countries but this time he seems to have crossed the line of control too far.

He was previously cleared of racial abuse after he was charged with the allegations that he had called Australian player Andrew Symonds a monkey during the Australian tour earlier this year.

Billions of viewers across the world saw Sreesanth sobbing after the scuffle that makes it more difficult for the offie to bail out an amnesty for him this time around as the Board claims to have strong video evidence against him. His on-field temperamental behaviour once again lands his career in muddle.

Aggression has been taken over by unruliness in the so-called gentleman’s game of cricket. Such type of incidents are setting up wrong examples for the youth who is blindly following this game of sport.

Harbhajan was saved time and again by the Indian Board but this time he has crossed all his limits by having a physical squabble with one of his nation’s teammate.

The ball is now in BCCI’s court and it is entirely up to them as whether they want to bell the wild cat or to give him another official pardon to come across more fracases in the coming years.
