Delhi Daredevils' ropes in Dennis Lillee
The last minute surprising disclosures from the franchises of the much-famed Indian Premier league (IPL), which is staring on April 18, spiraling the excitement of this mega venture with the latest to arrive is the appointment of cricket legend and former Australian fast bowler Dennis Lillee as the advisor of the Delhi Daredevils team management.

Announcing Lillee’s alliance with the team, GMR Sports Chief Executive Officer Yogesh Shetty said, “I am delighted that a cricketer of the caliber of Lillee has joined the Delhi Daredevils team. To have one of the all-time greats of cricket amongst us provides nothing but stronger foundations to our existing technical expertise.”
GMR Sports vice-president and a senior member of the Delhi Daredevils team management T A Sekar said, “I’ve known Dennis for more than two decades now. His advice has helped in grooming hundreds of young fast bowlers in India and abroad. We are indeed fortunate to have him among us.”
On his association with the Delhi Daredevils team Dennis Lillee said, “It feels great to be a part of GMR Sports and Delhi Daredevils. I’ve known many of the young players in the Delhi Daredevils squad and am naturally delighted to be part of this team.”
“While players like Glenn McGrath are legends in their own right, I am looking forward to work with upcoming talents such as Pradeep Sangwan and Yo Mahesh,” added Lillee.
Delhi Daredevils captain and explosive batsman Virender Sehwag said, “Lillee has been a childhood idol and an inspiration to countless cricketers, including me. His do-or-die attitude, fierce determination and the way he staged his comeback are a part of cricket lore. His presence in the Delhi Daredevils dressing room will no doubt bolster our resolve to win.”
Meanwhile, Delhi Daredevils team is all set to play its first game at the newly spruced up Feroze Shah Kotla against Rajasthan Royals on April 19 Saturday. The Delhi Daredevils is a finely balanced young team with a perfect blend of some outstanding batsmen, brilliant bowlers and excellent all-rounders.
