Priyanka tenable meeting with Sriharan need not to drag
Encroachment to one’s personal life particularly, if such an activity hurts a person mentally or heartily should be avoided.
In this particular case of ‘Priyanka Vadra meeting with Nalini Sriharan, one of the assassins of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi,’ a lawyer named D Raj Kumar from Chennai filed an application under the Right to Information Act last week to know under which legal provision Priyanka was permitted to meet Nalini and many other related questions related to her talk with the convict- the questions which was of not avail for the RTI applicant as well as for the general public.

RTI is a constitutional right of the Indian citizens and should be used for good cause and neither to gain filthy popularity nor to hurt sentiments of other people.
What would the applicant had to do after knowing whether Priyanka met with Nalini or not. It was the Sonia Gandhi, the widow of the assassin prime minister, who appealed to convert death sentence awarded to one of the convict Nalini Sriharan by a special court into life term imprisonment considering her orphan five-year old daughter.
As far as law is concerned, this meeting has not violated any law because the law allowed anyone to meet a prisoner provided the inmate gives approval for the same.
It’s a simple inquisition that can be develop in any body’s heart and mind who had seen his or her father’ body in innumerous pieces that why anybody killed a person of such a noble person. What was that circumstances which led a person to kill his or her father?
These are the simple but answered queries, which anybody would like to be answered, particularly the Congress President Sonia Gandhi, or any of her family members, who sought clemency for the convict, who assassinated her husband. As Priyanka herself accepted that she did it because she wanted to come to terms with her father’s killing.
''It is true I met Nalini Sriharan in Vellore Central Prison on March 19 and I undertook the visit completely on my own initiative. I do not believe in anger, hatred and violence,'' Priyanka said.
“It is my way of coming to peace with the violence and loss that I had experienced,” she added.
Nalini, who is 43 now was awarded the death sentence by a special court for being involved in Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination on May 21, 1991 in Sriperumbudur. She was the wife of LTTE activist Murugan she did the heinous crime at the mere age of 26 and 33 when she was penalised by the court after 7 years. Nalini is the last person who is alive among the other conspirators.
The sentence was later commuted to life imprisonment after Sonia Gandhi sought clemency for the convict for the sake of her five-year old daughter.
As per a common man’s perspective it is a bit hard for anyone to do such an act after losing someone so close but the young lady has shown great level of maturity without caring the political repercussion. The entire episode reasserts the values of the family’s philosophy of non-violence and hence undoubtedly needs to be respected.
However, Priyanka’s purported meeting could now supply ammunitions to the Opposition parties who might demand a fresh inquiry by how the Gandhi family came to terms with the tragedy of Rajiv Gandhi and sought clemency for the convict, who killed the former prime minister.
