Wawrinka confirms participation in Chennai Open

Chennai, Oct 24 (IANS) The 2008 Olympic doubles gold medallist Switzerland's Stanislas Wawrinka will play in the $450,000 Chennai Open to be held Jan 5-11 at the SDAT Stadium here.
Confirming his participation, the world no. 12 said: 'This will be my first visit to India and I am anxiously looking forward to playing at the Chennai Open. I hope to give a good and consistent performance here.'
Chennai Open is India's only ATP tennis tournament and is expected to draw a strong field of players. World no. 5 Nikolai Davydenko has already confirmed his participation for the event.
