Nepal Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party withdraws protest
Kathmandu, Oct 24 (ANI): The Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party (TMLP) of Nepal has called off all protest activity including picketing the rostrum in the Constituent Assembly (CA) after Prime Minister Prachanda pledged to meet all their demands.
The TMLP members had been obstructing the house for the last four days alleging that the government had failed to meet their four-point demand including the punishment for those involved in killing of party cadres in Kapilvastu district.
TMLP members allowed Thursday's House proceedings to take place after Home Minister Bam Dev Gautam reiterated the government's commitment in the Assembly.
TMLP spokesperson Sarbendra Nath Shukla said Prachanda had assured them that the government would punish those guilty in the killing of TMLP cadres and provide compensation to the victims' families.
TMDP activists Sarullah Musalman and Ram Prasad Kurmi Chaudhary were shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Titirkhi in Kapilvastu district earlier this month, Kantipur reported. (ANI)
