One of its official is missing that too when his wife accused him of being a Bangladeshi national.
The scoop might end over here after declaring him absconding but the consequences are harsh.
Appointed in 2000-01, Dewanchand Malik worked in RAW’s Aviation Research Centre in Kolkata as a Class-I officer till his wife filed an affidavit in a Kolkata court in 2005. She accused him of being a Bangladeshi nation, the country well known as safe heaven for anti-Indian organizations responsible for various bomb blasts within the country. Recent Hyderabad blast has also brought Bangladeshi link in prominence. Till now he is yet to report back to the duties and even after many raids are yet to bear fruits, an official of the intelligence revealed with a condition of anonymity because of seriousness of the case.
With the disappearance of Malik, officials within the external intelligence gathering agency are on a sticky wicket as it has raised questions about the selection process during 2000-01.
By quoting unidentified sources media reported that Malik's appointment has raised questions over recruitments made by RAW during 2000-01 as authorities’ suspect they were done in an arbitrary manner.
Meanwhile, the director of ARC has filed a complaint with Delhi Police about the matter and a case was registered. A 'look-out notice' for Malik has been circulated to airports, railway stations and ports.
In order to involve Interpol to issue a Red Corner Notice against the missing official a court should first declare Malik as a proclaimed offender.
After his appointment, Malik worked for three years in the ARC Kolkata and local police verified his credentials. Local police officials, who verified RAW official, have also been questioned by RAW personnel. The coveted Intelligence agency of the country is yet to come to the conclusion.
In past many intelligence officials privy to sensitive data were also declared proclaimed offenders, including a senior RAW official who reportedly fled to United States of America, and till now concerned authorities are yet to come out with the explanation.
Such cases have also been reported from other security agencies including some army officials.
