Semifinals spotted in Boost cricket

Delhi’s Salwan Boys School made their way into the semis of the Boost Cricket Cup inter-city challenge as they defeated St. John’s JC, Hyderabad by a massive margin of 151 runs. Nitesh Rana (105 n.o.) scored an unbeaten century while Shakti Singh (3/55) and Yatharth Tomar (3/ 30) picked up three wickets each to guide Delhi into the semis.

Swami Vivekanand also made it into the semis, despite losing the match, due to its earlier wins. Santhome, Chennai and DAV, Chandigarh are the other two teams that completed the semifinal line-up. In the semifinals, Swami Vivekanand will play Santhome, Chennai while DAV, Chandigarh will fight it out with Salwan Boys, Delhi.

In another match, riding on Shahnawaz Mirza’s 91 and Gagandeep Singh four for 17 DAV, Chandigarh stormed into the semifinals of the Boost Cricket Cup inter-city challenge after registering a comprehensive 10-wicket win over Swami Vivekanand (Mumbai) in Group ‘B’ league match played at the Islam Gymkhana ground.

Swami Vivekanand, Mumbai: 113 in 30.1 overs (Fenil Soni 40 Pratik Gawli 38, Gagandeep Singh four for 17, Amit Rana three for 31) lost to DAV, Chandigarh: 114 for no loss in 9.3 overs (Shahnawaz Mirza 91).

In the other match of the day, fine century knock played by S. Dinesh (122) and a deadly bowling spell by M. Ashwin three for 6 enabled Santhome HSS, Chennai to beat Santhome HSS, Chennai by 172 runs to move into the semifinals.

Santhome HSS, Chennai: 264 for nine in 45 overs (S. Dinesh 122, S.S. Xavier 30, M. Ashwin 30, Mohsin Shaikh three for 55) bt Vidyakunj HS, Baroda: 92 in 25.1 overs (M. Ashwin three for 6).

In an inconsequential match, Presidency School, Bangalore defeated Neelambal Subramaniam, Salem by 99 runs.
