Delhi Audit, RBI move into DSA institutional super-league

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) team is on a roll as they registered their successive 7-0 victory after taming Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) in group ‘A’ match making their way into the super-league of the DSA senior division institutional football league at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Monday.


The consecutive big wins enabled RBI to make it to the super-league as they displaced Zakir Hussain College on better goal difference after both teams finished their preliminary league engagements with six points.

Shailender Rawat scored a fine brace for the Bankmen while Rajeev, Rajesh Rawat, Anil Tomar, Mohan Nath and Basab Bhattacharya slotted one each to complete the tally. Earlier, RBI drubbed Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) with the same margin in a one-sided match at the same venue on Saturday.

In another group ‘B’ match of the day, Delhi Audit thrashed Delhi Administration 6-0 to storm into the super league of the championship. The Audit team is full of seasoned players and had no difficulty in pulverizing their opponents.

Hitender Rawat (2), Sameer Jung, Rattan, Rishi Kapoor and Avneet scored for Audit.

In another group ‘A’ encounter, Food Corporation of India (North Zone) played out a 1-1 draw with Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) to split points. Ashish Pandey scored for FCI, while Shekhar Khanna restored parity for ESIC.

Young Friends sails into SP Trophy quarters

Fine all-round display by Wilkins Victor (3/24 and 59) and good knock by Deepak Sharma (60) helped Young Friends club to beat Subhania Club by four wickets to enter the quarter-final of the 15th Shera Pandit memorial cricket tournament for SP Trophy played at the Mohan Meakin ground here on Monday.

Victor was named man of the match for his superb all-round performance.

Brief Scores: Subhania Club: 214 for 6 in 40 overs: (Pramod Bhati 60, Rahul Yadav 59, Surender Kumar 38, Wilkins Victor 3 for 24, Babloo Kumar 3 for 36.)

Young Friends: 218 for 6 in 38.2 overs: (Deepak Sharma 60, Wilkins Victor 59, Ritesh Negi 30, Manoj Chauhan 3 for 31.)

Kapil Bhati’s all-round display leads GMCA to Nehru cricket quarters

A fine exhibition of ball and bat by Kapil Bhati (3/53 and 40 n.o.) with a finely supported half-century struck by Harshit Dhingra (51) guided Ghaziabad Cricket Academy (GMCA) to beat Frank Anthony Cricket Academy (FACA) by two wickets and reached the quarter-final of the 31st Jawahar Lal Nehru memorial cricket tournament for Raj Kumar Kohli running trophy played at Nehru Youth Center ground.

Kapil Bhati was named Puma man of the match for his outstanding all-round show.
