Jet, Kingfisher asked to clear dues by Oct 24
New Delhi, Oct 21 (IANS) The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has asked leading private carriers Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines to clear their dues by Oct 24, a senior official said here Tuesday.
While Jet Airways owes Rs.3.95 billion to the AAI for using airport facilities, Kingfisher owes Rs.2.11 billion. Airlines also owe more dues to the oil companies.
According to the official, these airlines have failed to pay parking and landing fees.
The two airlines Oct 13 announced a strategic alliance following which they now control 60 percent of the airline market share.
The accumulated dues of airlines are said to be over Rs.10 billion, and the AAI gave extra time to the defaulting airlines to clear them.
India' flagship carrier Air India pays about Rs.18 billion annually towards landing and parking fees and has an overdue amount of Rs.5 billion.
However, the AAI is not worried over Air India's dues since it is a state-run company, the official said.
