Four booked for unauthorised vaccination

Lucknow, Oct 21 (IANS) Four people working with an NGO face action for unauthorised sale of hepatitis-B vaccines in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow district, health officials said Tuesday.

'All the four people of the Shri Ram Manav Sansthan, an NGO, had set up an unauthorised vaccination camp in Nadarganj locality here,' chief medical officer A.K. Shukla told IANS.

Despite not having necessary papers to undertake such an exercise, the NGO members were taking money from people for vaccination, he added.

A permission from the health department is obligatory for organising vaccination camps.

'To misguide the public, the NGO members also carried fake documents to project their camp was being assisted by the health department,' said Shukla.

Hepatitis B virus infects the liver and causes an inflammation called hepatitis.
