Rohit, Loveleen claim top honours in Delhi State Shooting

Budding Delhi shooters Rohit Choudhary and Loveleen Kaur gave good account of themselves on the concluding day of Delhi State Shooting competition after both were declared the best shooters in the junior category respectively here on Wednesday.

Loveleen claimed the air pistol event in the junior division on the final day with a score of 370 after finishing third in the senior level too. Suvidha Kitchloo, the eventual winner of the senior divison, shot 374 while Sapna Chaman got second place with a score of 371. Sapna also clinched the gold in women's sports pistol event. Her winning score was 540/600.

The family of late Kavita Singh, a rifle shooter, who died young, rewarded both Rohit and Loveleen with a cash award of Rs 3,100 each.

The chief guest National rifle Association of India (NRAI) secretary Baljeet Singh Sethi gave away the prizes to the participating shooters.

The upcoming shooters of the state will get another chance to showcase their talent in the upcoming North India meet, commencing in Agra from April 16.

MEN: Three position: Manmohan Singh 519/600, Narinder Singh Rawat 500, Dev Jyoti Barooah 341; 50m prone: Manmohan Singh 551/600, Akshit Malik 540, Narinder Singh Rawat 538;

Rapid Fire: DP Singh 528/ 600, Rajeev Sharma 517, Amit Kumar 476; Standard pistol: Rajeev Sharma 529, Amit Kumar 523, and Ajit Singh 510;

Centre Fire: Rajeev Sharma 559, Pradeep Kumar 544, Amit Kumar 527; Sports pistol: Kapil Bidhuri 507, Tushar Anand 500, and Prashant Lakra 486.

WOMEN: Sports pistol: Sapna Chaman 540/600, Sanjana Chhabra 525, Pooja Sharma 361; Air pistol: Suvidha Kitchloo 374/400, Sapna Chaman 371, Loveleen Kaur 370

JUNIOR WOMEN: Sports pistol: Sanjana 525, Aditi Dhawan 493

FCI North Zone, DDA register facile wins in DSA Institutional League

Defending champion Food Corporation of India (North Zone) tamed Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) 7-0 in the DSA Institutional football league championship for the Chief Minister’s Cup played at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Wednesday.

Gamlung Kamei and Sanjeev Bhalla scored a brace each for the winners while Mehtab Ali, Bhupender Singh Rawat and Ravi Rana slotted one each to complete the tally.

In another matches of the day, Delhi Development Authority blanked All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) 3-0. Michael Raj, Ankit and Gagan Singh scored for the winners while Railway Board prevailed over Bank of India with a solitary goal netted by Vinay Rawat.
