Kerala youth held for contacts with Kashmiri militants

Kannur (Kerala), Oct 19 (IANS) The police Sunday said they have arrested a Kerala youth for his alleged links with a Jammu and Kashmir militant group.

 

Abdul Jaleel, 37, a resident of Edakkad near here was reportedly arrested Saturday night.

 

 

Talking to IANS, Kannur Superintendent of Police S. Sreejith said that police have proof that terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir had contacted Jaleel on his mobile phone seeking help.

 

 

'We have call records proving his contacts with terrorists,' he said.

 

 

Sreejith said that the police have not yet confirmed the identity of the militants and the matter is being probed with the help of Jammu and Kashmir police.

 

 

Jaleel is a painter and is reported to be an activist of the National Democratic Front (NDF), a right-wing Muslim organisation.
