Kuala Lumpur, Oct 19 (IANS) Malaysian Sikhs have prepared 10,000 copies of a CD of hymns and chants from Guru Granth Sahib, giving them a modern touch, to mark the third centenary of the holy book.

The CD, Shabad Kirtan, produced by Goldkartz Production, features bhangra artiste siblings Manjit Singh, Ranjit Kuar Gill and Sukhjit Singh Gill.

Besides Hong Kong and other Southeast Asian centres, it will be distributed in London, the official Malaysian news agency Bernama said.

The CD made its debut at the Gurpourti Sikh Children's Home in Ampang and was distributed free, The Eastern Times newspaper said.

'We have produced 10,000 CDs which will be distributed free of charge for the benefit of Sikhs throughout Malaysia and Southeast Asia,' said Manjit Singh, adding that it would be made available in all major gurdwaras in Malaysia.

Manjit Singh graduated in law from International Islamic University recently, while Sukhjit Singh is studying law. Ranjit Kaur, a vocalist, is a lawyer based in Ipoh.
