'Bujjigadu' brings luck to Kannada actress Sanjana

Bangalore, Oct 18 (IANS) After her first Telugu film 'Bujjigadu', offers have been pouring in for model-actress Sanjana Galranai aka Archana and she says she still can't believe one small role has changed her life.

Sanjana, who debuted with controversial Kannada film 'Ganda Hendathi', a remake of Hindi movie 'Murder', has now one Kannada film and three big Telugu movies in her kitty. All the films are in various stages of production.

'I cannot imagine that a debut in one important film could change my fortunes. It was a fact that when Puri (Jagannath) sir offered me 'Bujjigadu', I was on cloud nine. But I didn't have a big role in the film. I was apprehensive that I may not be noticed in this film too. Thankfully, 'Bujjigadu' became a big hit and I became well-known in the Telugu film industry,' Sanjana said.

Sanjana is so busy doing Telugu films that she had to work on her birthday Oct 10. She shot for Telugu film 'Sathyameva Jayathe', a remake of Bollywood film 'Khakee', on her special day. The actress has teamed up with Rajasekhar in the movie, which is being directed by Rajasekhar's wife Jeevitha.

The other two Telugu films in Sanjana's kitty are 'Samarthudu' and 'Police Police'. She is paired with Raja and Srikanth in the two films respectively. Both the films are also in the final stages of production.

Sanjana's debut Kannada film 'Ganda Hendathi' got into several controversies. First, the censor board objected to the bold scenes in the film and gave it an 'A' certificate. Then the promos of the film looked like a soft porn and it affected the box office revenues because the family audience avoided it.

But Sanjana is confident about her new Kannada film 'Ee Sanje', directed by young Sree, who made a name with his debut film 'Orata I Love You'.

'I play a girl next door in the film. It is a tradition-bound role and I am presented very well in the film. And more than anything else, I'm not wearing any revealing costumes it,' said Sanjana.

She plans to take up more Kannada films once she wraps up 'Ee Sanje'.

Shuttling from her base in Bangalore to Hyderabad, Chennai and Mumbai for films and modelling assignments, Sanjana now finds little time to indulge in hobbies like doing the Salsa dance.
