Tarun Tahiliani steals the audience from WIFW

New Delhi, Oct 15(IANS) The attendance for designer Manoviraj Khosla and Siddhartha Tytler's shows at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) here Wednesday saw a considerable drop owing to a time clash with ace designer Tarun Tahiliani's show at the Delhi Fashion Week (DFW).

Khosla's collection impressed the audience with its flamboyant and unique colours for men. Khosla's collection spoke volumes about the metrosexual way of dressing that men in India are fast adapting.

His colours for men included unusual ones like flame orange, lavender, purple, bright yellow apart from regular hues of black, white, blue and grey. These were used in unconventional designs like cowl neck cardigans, chudi pants, fitted leggings, three-fourth pants with batik prints and embroidery.

'The collection is a mixture of 'then' and 'now', bringing together the traditional and contemporary era into a more stylish manner. I have used happy colours because the mood is spring and summer - very happy!' Khosla said.

Even Tytler's show got a thumbs up for the clean cuts and elegance of his initial outfits, apart from his finishing line that had motifs of Japanese cartoon characters with heavy bling.

'The collection is all about fun. There was no particular theme but the Japanese motifs were inspired by various cartoon characters there. Bling was used because that is how I perceived those cartoons. Just like cartoons make one happy, even coloured bling would make one happy,' Tytler maintained.

His collection tilted 'Ambrosia - an ageless ode to fashion', had a line up of structured and trendy silhouettes and stylish shirts, gowns, dresses, skirts, tops, pants and jackets for both men and women.

The outfits had a heavy mix of techniques ranging from threadwork and applique. The colour palette was vibrant with a mix of orange, lavender, turquoise, copper and mint.

Tytler stole the show with top rung models like Carol Gracias, Neha Kapur, Gauhar Khan, Pia Trivedi and Joey Mathew.
