Prime minister congratulates Arvind Adiga for winning Booker
New Delhi, Oct 15 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Wednesday congratulated Arvind Adiga for winning the prestigious Man Booker Prize.
'I am extremely happy to learn that the coveted Booker Prize is being awarded to you this year,' the prime minister said in a statement issued here.
"I join the people of this country in celebrating this international recognition of your literary accomplishment," he said.

A former journalist, 33-year-old Adiga has won the 2008 Man Booker Prize, one of the world's most prestigious literary awards, for 'The White Tiger' - his debut novel set against the backdrop of India's growing wealth gap.
