DDCA office-bearers retain their posts
The members of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) faced no difficulties in holding back their respective posts as the much-awaited election of the DDCA office-bearers took place after a gap of six years after the intervention of Delhi High Court here on Friday.
Arun Jaitely and Sunil Dev retained their posts as the President and Sports secretary of the association. Dev was voted for the highest number of proxy votes (3502) in the elections.
There was not much of a big change in the names of office-bearers list except three new faces in the Executive Committee Harsh Sharma, Ajay Sharma and Salil Seth.
There is also a mutually understandable swap between former joint secretary (sports) Sunil Khanna and joint secretary (club) SS Sareen for their respective posts.
With most of the posts has already been decided unopposed, there was no anticipation left in the air. Everyone knew before hand that what’s going to happen.
S P Bansal retained the general secretary's post with the second most ballots - 3,501. Among the executive committee members, Ganga Prasad Gupta got 3,499 proxies while Ravi Jain and Sunil Kumar Jain grabbed 3,498 each.
Justice VS Aggarwal under whom supervision elections were held handed over the result to president Arun Jaitley, who defeated his lone competitor Neeraj Gautam by an overwhelming margin of 3,349 proxies.
Former Indian Test cricketer Chetan Chauhan, CK Khanna and Suresh Chopra were re-elected as vice-presidents. Former Test-umpire Ram Babu Gupta sustained his treasurer’s post.
