Drug, rape and drowning cause 'Keeling' death
The Goa Police on Thursday finally solved the murder mystery of British teenager Scarlette Keeling after prime accused Samson D’Souza confessed of sexually abusing Scarlette few hours before she found dead on the beach.
The body of the 15-year old girl was found at Anjuna beach on February 18. The police reached to the conclusion after the first post-mortem report claiming that Scarlett had died due to drug overdose and drowning.

The case that puts headlines on every news outlet all over the world forced the authority to carryout a second post-mortem that revealed injuries on the girl’s body following which the Goan police lodged a murder case.
Soon after the incident, the police had booked two men 29-year-old bartender, Samson D'Souza and Placido Carvalho- a drug dealer.
The bartender later confessed to the police of drugging the girl and then dumping her in swallow water after repeatedly raping her; drug over dose and drowning both were the cause of her death.
Police then booked D'Souza in charges of rape and murder while Placido was taken for a 14-day custody for further questioning in relation with the intoxication of girl.
During the entire investigation process the Goan police was criticised for its careless effort while projecting the case as a cause of drug overdose and drowning.
Again as television pictures of the victim clearly suggested that she was some how brutally tortured by the culprits. It is quite evident that the police here tried to conceal the case and which shows nothing but a sign of our corrupt system.
The officer who put the case as an accidental drowning has been suspended from his duty and disciplinary action is under its way for his involvement in the case.
