Delhi Minority Commission to organise seminar on minorities

With the purpose of highlighting responsibility and contribution of minorities as an ingredient in the overall development and growth of Delhi, a seminar will be organised on “role of minorities” on March 11.

The purpose of the seminar is to highlight the significance of the minority communities to the welfare and development of Delhi.

 


Chief Minister of Delhi, Shiela Dixit will be the chief guest and address the seminar, whereas many other speakers will discuss on the current issues relating to equal education, social welfare, employment and housing.


The seminar on role of minority will be organised under the Delhi government’s Bhagidari monitoring system, which was launched by the Chief Minister Shiela Dixit in February this year. For the purpose of launching the Bhagidari monitoring system, Dixit said, “It would help in streamlining the Bhagidari redress and monitoring mechanism and strengthening the faith of citizen groups in the movement.”


The seminar will be organised under the theme “Overall Development, Overall Growth.” Means to say, let’s move together to a developed nation. Let’s grow together to achieve it.


Delhi Minorities Commission


Delhi Minorities Commission (DMC) has been created by the Govt. of NCT of Delhi to safeguard the rights and interest of minority communities in the NCT of Delhi for matters or incidents connected with minorities. Chairman is the Head of the Commission.


Minority Community means, community notified as such by the Central Govt. as per provisions of the National Commission for Minorities Act 1992. Under the Act, Muslims, Sikh, Christian, Parsi and Buddhist communities are declared as minority communities.


SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS


The Commission time to time conducts workshops and organises seminars on issues pertaining to minorities.
