IIFA Awards Ceremony begins in Yorkshire

June 07: The 8 th International Indian Film Academy IIFA, award ceremony which starts from today in the beautiful Yorkshire city will showcase the colour and spice of Indian films. This is the best event of Indian film industry, Bollywood and promotes the glam of Hindi films to all over world. This four day long festival is packed with Bollywood celebrities and in recent ceremonies many more from outside the Bollywood have shown their keen interest in stepping on this occasion.

This year IIFA related events are going to take place in the beautiful towns of U.K. - Leeds, Sheffield, Bradford, York and Hull. The show is organized by Wizcraft International Entertainment Pvt. Ltd, India’s premier event management company.

Reportedly Bollywood celebrities and some top Indian business men have been already heading for the show. This mega event will be watched by more than 500 million viewers world wide.

The event as it opens the gates of business opportunity to the city of Yorkshire in terms of tourist flow, it is a welcome treat in U.K. The event will attract a lot of tourists during the week long period, especially from Eurasian continents. The event, which is being organized in cooperation with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) it has offered a rare and biggest business dimension to top most companies in the entertainment and advertising world.

A ‘Global Business Forum’ is also a part of the mega event in which delegates and representatives of FICCI will discuss all possible business opportunity especially Indian investment in the Yorkshire region. As Bollywood spends huge chunks of money on shooting locations outside India, Yorkshire can be a good consign in this respect.

IIFA from its inception has been proficient to present and promote Indian Cinema. IIFA has traveled all across the world from London (2000), Sun City (2001), Malaysia (2002), Johannesburg (2003), Singapore (2004), Amsterdam (2005), Dubai (2006) and now in Yorkshire, in its mission to popularize Bollywood Cinema and Indian Culture as a whole.

The main award ceremony will take place at Sheffield’s Hallam FM Arena, on Saturday, which will see more than 500 Bollywood actors, actresses, producers, directors and all who are engaged with Hindi film making. But there are a series of other events including IIFA World Premier, IIFA Foundation Celebrity Special Event, IIFA Film Forum, Red Carpet and various workshops. Also a celebrity cricket match will be played at the Headingley Stadium in Leeds.

Many super stars have already reached Yorkshire including IIFA Brand Ambassador Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwariya Rai, Celebrity Big Brother Winner - Shilpa Shetty and many other top Bollywood personalities. Taking part in this mega event is considered as the Bollywood equivalent to Oscar.

On this special occasion, the Leeds Metropolitan University has also announced to award honorary doctorates to notable actress Shabana Azmi, reputed director Yash Chopra and Indian Civil Aviation Minister, Praful Patel, during the weekend.
