Court orders judicial probe into Blueline bus accident

New Delhi, Oct 9 (IANS) The Delhi High Court ordered a judicial inquiry into a Blueline bus accident after the police alleged that the bus-owner forged the victim's post-mortem report to get the vehicle released without paying a fine.

The police alleged the bus-owner had forged a post-mortem examination report for getting his bus released after the police impounded it after it crushed a man last year.

A division bench headed by Chief Justice Ajit Prakash Shah and Justice S. Muralidhar last week ordered a judicial inquiry into the matter after the medical superintendent of the Deen Dayal Upadhaya (DDU) Hospital in west Delhi area, failed to explain how two post-mortem examination reports were prepared.

Nov 18 has been fixed as the next date of hearing.

Filing an application before the bench, Delhi police counsel Mukta Gupta contended that Rajender Prakash Sharma had submitted a fabricated post-mortem report to avoid paying Rs.100,000 to the victim's family before getting his bus released.

Taking a serious view of the growing number of Blueline bus accidents in the city, the high court imposed a Rs.100,000 fine for the release of the bus which caused a fatal accident and Rs.50,000 for release of a bus causing grievous injury to the victim.

Sharma submitted before the bench that the victim was murdered and did not die in a motor accident, Gupta said.

Following his submission, the court ordered the release of the bus.

After verification, however, the police found that the original post-mortem examination report was different from the one submitted in the court.
