Patna, Jan 12 (ANI): Scores of non-gazetted employees and workers took to the streets here on Thursday demanding regularisation of their jobs and better pay scales.
The irate protestors urged the government to address their nine main points of concern, which includes better pay, equality, provisions of paid leaves, pension and other benefits.
Bihar State Non-Gazetted Employees Federation (BSNGEF) General Secretary Raj Kishore Rai highlighted the plight of the lower tier workers, while lambasting the government for allegedly enforcing 'skewed' policies.
"Since the past many years, our daily wage non gazetted employees have been demanding regularisation of their jobs but to no avail. Even the lower caste workers and the rural outreach workers are not being given the status of government employees," said Rai.
"This is the first government that has not granted paid leaves to the employees. Our protest is against these issues," he added.
Rai further warned the government that if their concerns were not resolved at the earliest, the employees would join hands with other trade unions and hold a one-day nationwide hunger strike on February 28.
"We urge the government of Bihar to let go off its dictatorial thinking and sit and resolve the row with our federation. Otherwise, the non-gazetted employees of Bihar, along with other trade unions, will go on a one-day nationwide strike from February 28 to step up pressure on the government to withdraw its new pension bill," he added Rai. The protest was organised under the aegis of the Bihar State Non-Gazetted Employees Federation (BSNGEF).
