Peshawar, Tue, 10 Jan 2012 ANI

Peshawar, Jan 10(ANI): At least 17 people have been killed and 32 others injured in a bomb blast near a petrol pump in Jamrud bazar of Khyber Agency, Pakistani officials have said.

The injured are currently receiving treatment in the Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar.

The cause of the blast is still unknown, but initial investigations suggest that a bomb was planted in a taxi stand near the petrol pump.

Sources told the Express Tribune that local peace committee Zaka Khel members were passing though the area when the blast took place.

The Peshawar authorities said that the militants have started targeting Pakistan's security officials to avenge the Pakistan government's crackdown against extremism. (ANI)
