Jaipur, Jan 4 (ANI): Water conservationist from Rajasthan Rajendra Singh has slammed veteran anti- graft crusader Anna Hazare for putting unnecessary pressure on the Central Government over passage of the much debated Lokpal Bill.
Singh, a former aide of Hazare, said the anti-graft crusader is trying to threaten the government to get his demands met.
"The movement started by Anna Hazare has lost its aim and is now focusing on pressurising the government and often misbehaving with the lawmakers. This is pressure politics and broker policy. They have now come to a level where their main aim is to intimidate the government and this is not a correct way," said Singh.
He further condemned Hazare supporters for showing black flags to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Punjab saying that dishonouring lawmakers was also an act of violence.
"This kind of pressure on the government and giving bad names to the lawmakers is also an act of violence. If somebody says anything against them (Team Anna), then they react angrily. In the same way if you dishonour somebody then it is a kind of violence. I don't think showing black flags to Prime Minister was a correct thing," added Singh.
The Rajya Sabha broke up for recess on December 29 without voting on a bill to create a Lokpal before a deadline set by Hazare, who has led a campaign for the measure using hunger strikes.
The anti-graft legislation for which social activist Hazare and his team have fomented a successful mass movement may now be taken up in the budget session of parliament, probably in March. (ANI)
