Five die in Sonepat road accident

Sonepat, Jan 3 (ANI): A road mishap in Harayana's Sonepat District in on Tuesday claimed at least five lives and injured over ten people.
The accident took place due to heavy fog, when an overloaded cab collided with an oil tanker. A minor blast took place, due to which the cab caught fire.
Vehicular traffic was disrupted, owing to the severe chaos on the highway. The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital.
Ironically, the Haryana police observed the third day of the Road Safety week today.
"Five to six people died on the spot, around 15 to 20 got injured. We have asked the injured and investigation is on. We will act on the statement of the driver of the tanker," said Birbhan Singh, a police official.
According to media reports, the death toll is likely to rise as some of the victims are critically injured.
The police has started investigation on the basis of the statements issued by injured as well as the driver of the oil tanker. (ANI)
