Bangalore, Jan 2 (ANI): Former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa called a meeting with his party legislators here on Monday to discuss the development in the state as well as formulate strategies to tackle other significant political issues.
"Today, we discussed in detail, the political situation in Karnataka with our Bangalore city MLAs. 14 to 15 MLAs were present and were discussing about the Mahanagar Palika (municipal corporation) and other political situations. And you know very well that our All- India leaders are busy with state elections, so situation is now very calm in Karnataka," Yeddyurappa told the media here.
"Only after the period is completed, then only elections will take place, there is no question of early elections. After 15th, I will go to Delhi, I will discuss about so many other political situations in Karnataka, I will discuss with All-India leaders," he added.
Meanwhile, the legislators on their part praised Yeddyurappa's efforts in developing the city and indirectly hinted that his support is essential for further progress in Karnataka.
"Today, we met our former Chief Minister Yeddyurappa. Occasionally, we meet with Yeddyurappa. Actually, in three and a half years, during his period, Bangalore was developed and he has given money for all such developments," said Vijay Kumar, an MLA, while expressing full confidence in Yeddyurappa's leadership.
"We were satisfied and because of that we got 112 seats in Bangalore Mahanagar Palika, just that we want him to continue his support and during this phase, we had problem with BBMP and our developmental activity. So, we have another one and a half years," he added.
It may be recalled here that Yeddyurappa's name was earlier dragged into former Karnataka Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde's independent inquiry into mining graft in the state.
Yeddyurappa tendered his resignation on July 31 to Karnataka Governor Hansraj Bhardwaj following allegations of corruption. The resignation was accepted, and D. V. Sadananda Gowda was appointed the chief minister. (ANI)
