Priyanka named Delhi state women's football team skipper

Priyanka Kumari Singh will lead the 20-member Delhi state squad in the 16th Senior Women's National Football championship, scheduled to kick-off at Haldia from February 29.

Delhi will take on Assam in their opening encounter, while former champion Manipur will meet Jharkhand on the opening day. Delhi has been placed alongside Goa and Assam in Group IV.

A total of 23 teams are participating in the in a fortnight-long tournament with teams divided into eight groups. The top team of each group will qualify for the quarter-finals. The semi-finals will be played on March 14 with final is slated on March 16.

Other members of the Delhi team: Palavi Singh, Raj Shree Pandey (goalkeepers), Shweta Kaushik, Anjana Kumari, Poonam Rawat, Momita Barua, Jyoti Mann and Neeta Rawat (defenders), Kanchan Singhal, Sanju, Shubhangi Joshi, Vandana Sharma and Abha Jain (mid-fielders), Udita, Nancy Gupta, Usha,Neeta Singh, Ritu, Frahan Salman and Hema Khati (forwards).

Meanwhile, Delhi under-14 team defeated Uttarakhand 2-0 in their second match of the All India Football Federation under-14 football festival currently underway in Goa. Skipper Kislay Singh Sajwan and Michael Chongthu scored apiece for the winners.

Earlier, Karnataka manage to hold Delhi for a 1-1 draw. Trailing 0-1 till the break, Karnataka managed to restore parity in right time denying Delhi a likely victory.

Commonwealth Cricket

A fine half-century by Varun Gupta (58) aided Australia High Commission to beat World Bank XI by 90 runs in a league match of the Commonwealth cricket tournament for Rams Relationship trophy here.

Shawej’s all-round display

A fine all-round display by Shawej Khan (56n.o. and 3/34) helped Jamia Milia beat PG DAV College by eight wickets to enter the final of the Inter college cricket tourney.

Neeraj, Raman steer Malviya to Goswami Girdhari Lal final

Neeraj Chawla scalped (3/32) and Raman Sachdeva's all round performance ( 45 and 2/32) helped Malviya Club beat Sonnet Club by 20 runs to enter the final of the 9th Goswami Girdhari Lal Memorial Cricket Tournament.

Delhi Administration posts win

Ombir Thakural played a fine knock of unbeaten 70 as Delhi Administration beat Ravi Brothers by five wickets in the Super Elite Group.

Currently leaving in New Delhi in India I just arrive here in India few months ago, my main reason of coming here is to find a suitable football club to be acquainted with. I was once playing for 2nd Division in my country Nigeria as a right forwarder, some time my coach also play me a central midfielder. I we be really glad if I can get any club in any part of Asia who we like to try me out.
