Islamabad, Dec 25(ANI): Pakistan Opposition leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has criticised Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani for raising the question of slain Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden's presence in Pakistan during an assembly session.
He was referring to Gilani's statement in which he questioned the army about how bin Laden stayed undetected in the Abbottabad compound for six years.
Nisar slammed Gilani's remarks alleging a conspiracy to topple the government as 'irresponsible', The Daily Times reports.
He warned that his party would protest if the Pakistan government took any step against army chief Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Director General Ahmad Shuja Pasha before the Supreme Court's probe on the 'memogate' issue concluded.
Chaudhry Nisar said Gilani's statement alleging conspiracies to topple the government was shocking because it was aimed at gaining political mileage and added that an elected leader had no right to express such views.
"I, being a parliamentarian, feel ashamed that the army chief had to make a statement to put to rest self-created fears and uncertainty of politicians. Democratic system should not be weak to the extent that Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has to issue statement in its support," he added. (ANI)
