Jaipur, Dec 21 (ANI): Medical services and allied treatment at government hospitals came to a standstill here on Wednesday, as the resident doctors demanding parity with their central cadres in pay decided to observe a mass strike.
Reportedly, around 9000 doctors have taken part in this strike causing much inconvenience to patients, particularly those needing immediate medicare.
The Superintendent of Jaipuria Hospital, Dr. D S Malik, said that the government has not responded to the doctors' plea for this parity in pay.
"Their main demand is that they should be paid salaries equal to the central government hospitals as they also work a lot. Government is not willing to do that," said Dr. Malik.
"Not many arrangements have been made. Only one doctor is available who is looking after the emergency. The government had appointed four doctors from the Health Directorate and they have not yet joined since they too are on strike," he added.
The Out Patient Departments at the hospitals wore a deserted look and reportedly, only one doctor has been assigned to attend the cases in the Emergency Wing. (ANI)
