What your choice of wine says about you

London, Dec 21 (ANI): Our choice of wine is apparently determined by our temperament and persona, a new study has revealed.

As shoppers stock up on their top tipples for Christmas and the New Year, researchers, who surveyed 3,000 ­drinkers, have claimed to have matched various personalities to different types of wine, the Daily Express reported.

Loud, gregarious people like reality star Amy Childs would typically opt for a "crisp and zesty" wine like ­Sauvignon Blanc.

But serious, assertive characters such as Lord Sugar, might instead be more inclined towards a full-bodied ­Italian red, like a Primitivo.

Romantic couples like Prince William and his new wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, typically wanted a "rich and lustrous" red like a Californian Pinot Noir.

The results were compiled from customer tastings at Oddbins, the wine supermarket relaunched two months ago. or the study, customers were given samples and were asked to pick their favourite among them and then describe their personality.

From the 12 most-selected wines, the researchers were able to match distinctive character types with their preferred choice of wine.

"The more ­serious and thoughtful kind of person would go for a full-blooded Italian, while outgoing people liked something light and bubbly, like a Rose," Ayo Akintola, managing director at Oddbins, said.

Among other matches, they say a traditionalist, such as the Queen, might have a preference for an old-fashioned Christmas classic like a Rioja Crianza.

Classy French whites were the most chosen drink of independent minded sorts, while generous souls went opted for a Bourgogne.

"We have put together a Christmas wine case with a bottle of each of the 12, so there is something for ­everyone in there," Akintola added. (ANI)
