Seattle cat 'running and jumping' after surviving 11-story fall

London, Dec 21 (ANI): A cat in Seattle survived after falling from the window of its owner's 11th floor apartment, and landing on cement.

Baxter, a long-haired house cat, had a miraculous recovery within two months and is now 'running and jumping' as before.

According to Seattle P-I, the owner Diana McDougle witnessed the horrific fall of approximately 100 feet, which happened in October.

Baxter, curious to see out, forced the window open and stepped out onto a ledge, but it was too narrow for him to turn around.

"I looked down, I was a hundred per cent sure he was dead. He was on the cement," the Daily Mail quoted McDougle as telling My Fox Spokane website.

She hurried down worrying that her cat may have already been picked up by the trash collector or a charitable person, but found it under a nearby care.

Baxter, who suffered a broken collarbone, dislocated sternum, and fluid around its heart and lungs, was rushed to the local veterinary hospital

But after a short-term stint under medical care, it is in excellent shape again.

"He's running around and doing all of his normal activity... He's running and jumping," McDougle said.

This strange tale of survival was nominated for December's Hambone Award by Veterinary Pet Insurance, named for a dog that was stuck in a refrigerator and wolfed down an entire ham while trapped inside.

The company receives thousands of claims from pet owners across the nation, but always have several noteworthy or quirky claims.

Only pets that made a full recovery were considered. In November itself, more than 80,000 such claims were filed. (ANI)
