Testing time for students

New Delhi, Mon, 25 Feb 2008 Vikash Ranjan

With hardly one week to go for the commencing of the CBSE examination for the 10th and 12th standards, students appearing in the examination must have kept their fingers crossed.

These exams particularly for 12th are crucial for the marks obtained by examinee at first stance try to set their career by helping them awarding the courses and colleges of their choice. Simultaneously the 10th paper is significant for the students as well as it sets your future and is the bottom stairs of your desired goals.

But, who could not score well unfortunately, for various reasons or get admission into courses or colleges of their choice must not understand their career ends there.

There are various professional fields of your choice where you can do better than mere going through conventional studies.

But before going into detail for the latter part of examination, the time demands me to talk to you on its former part. Means to say what you should do for battling the increasing examination fever.

As I said earlier hardly one week is left to start in your paper, so the first step that you should follow right now is to stop reading new things alien to you. Whatever you have read so far, revise, revise, and re-revise it first. And many of you, if have confidently revised the syllabus, can focus on the unread part of your syllabus. But, my dear friends, again I am saying revision is most crucial than exploring novel things.

Some of you must be thinking why I am stressing on revision. You decide! What you want to do in examination. Obviously nothing else than to do well. Fine, I too expect you the same. But, 80%, 90%, 99% or even 100% whatever you want to get come first after 40%-the deadline, the passing marks- which you have to achieve first.

Now it would have been clear to you that why I am putting strength on to achieve the passing marks. Each year students are put under tremendous pressure regarding the board exams. And, we are all aware that students commit suicide, who could not stand these pressure.

Why suicidal tendencies have been enhanced in few years is grave questions, which demand parents to ponder over it. In many of the cases no one else than parents are responsible solely for their children committing suicides by putting tremendous pressure on their children. They must understand the basic point that every child has its own shortcoming as well as quality too.

Study is essential, but only getting good marks is not the sole thing. And parents must know there is no guarantee for the students do well in exams must do well further. Conversely, to think that who could not do well in their exams, will not do good further in their life is a wrong perception and is not the criteria of judging their ability. Moreover, you must not pressurise your children to make fulfil your incomplete desire through them.

Dear parents! I hope you understood my message what I wanted to convey you.

My dear students! I think you are feeling relaxed now. Now, just concentrate on some basic points essential for you on each day of paper.

Do not take heavy food.

Must avoid oily food items.

Take liquids in appropriate quantity, as it would make you ease. Also, take water bottle accompanied with glucose mixed into water.

Reach at least 15 minutes ahead of the prescribed time at the examination hall. Because, haste makes waste.

After sitting at your seats, take a two or three deep breadth. It would relax you.

The 15-minute “cool off time” given at the beginning of examination is primarily meant for reading the questions thoroughly, to have an overall idea of the paper and to mentally plan the order of answers to be written.

Do not touch initially tough questions whose answers you are not sure to give correctly. First choose to answer those questions, which you know well. Later must attempt the questions, which you have left before.

Try to write at least three or four lines of each subjective question even though you are not sure to write complete answers. If you touch these, you must get 1 or 2 marks and at last it helps you supplementing to the total marks.

Must not lose your confidence and last but not the least Never! Never! Give Up..Live and Hope for the best.
