The world watched the most coveted Oscar Awards in the world of entertainment on star studded Sunday night.

Marion Cotillard hogged all the limelight after her first nomination La Vie en Rose won her the Best Actress Award on a glittering Hollywood night. The award for her performance as a celebrated chanteuse Edith Piaf in the film also made her to be an illustrious artist to become the first French performer since 1960 to get an Oscar in this category.

The stunning performance by the actress in the film in the skin of Piaf who acclaimed all the limelight after being raised in a brothel but her life stop in mid-sentence by drug and alcohol abuse.

Recently she also has won Cesar Award for best Actress, British Bafta and a Golden Globe for her role as Piaf.

Other nominated in this category were Julie Christie for Away From Her, Ellen Page for Juno, and Laura Linney for The Savages and Cate Blanchett for Elizabeth: The Golden Age.

Daniel Day-Lewis won the best actor award for his portrayal as an oil baron in the film There Will Be Blood giving a tough competition to George Clooney in Michael Clayton and Tommy Lee Jones for In the Valley of Elah.

No Country for Old Men won the award for the best supporting actor for Javier Bardem for his performance as psychopathic man and adapted screenplay categories by the film's directors -- Joel and Ethan Coen --.

Tilda Swinton was crowned best supporting actress for her performance as a tricky corporate legal chief in the film Michael Clayton.
