Apple says iPhone voice activation is pro-life, but unable to find abortion clinics due to technica

Washington, Dec 2(ANI): Technology giant Apple has said its iPhone voice activation is 'pro life', and it is unable to locate abortion clinics due to technical malfunctioning.

Apple was criticized after users found that Siri replies blankly on being asked for information on abortion and birth control.

The American Civil Liberties Union had urged Apple to resolve the issue and enable people to find the 'reproductive resources', The Daily Mail reports.

"According to numerous sources, when asked to find an abortion clinic, even in areas where such clinics are nearby, Siri either draws a blank, or worse, refers women to pregnancy crisis centres." it had said on its blog post.

The iPhone 4GS users, however, had no such problem, which Apple said, did not originate due to any political stance of the firm.

"These are not intentional omissions meant to offend anyone. It simply means that as we bring Siri from beta to a final product, we find places where we can do better, and we will in the coming weeks", The New York Times quoted a company's spokesperson, as saying.

One of Siri's creators, Norman Winarsky, said the problem might have originated with the web services of the company's partner firm, claiming that 'Apple probably hasn't paid much attention to all the results that come up'.

Siri users with foreign accents, especially Scottish, do not find the application user-friendly.

Late Apple co- founder Steve Jobs, who was adopted at birth, once expressed his gratitude to his biological mother for giving him birth rather than having him aborted. (ANI)
