Sharma was with Special Cell: Delhi Police
New Delhi, Oct 5 (IANS) Inspector M.C. Sharma, who was killed in a shootout with suspected terrorists in Jamia Nagar here Sep 19, was with the Special Cell and was not going to be transferred, Delhi Police clarified Sunday, responding to Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh's remarks.
'Sharma was not transferred from the Special Cell. He had gone to Jamia Nagar in his capacity as a Special Cell inspector,' Delhi Police spokesman Rajan Bhagat said.
He, however, refused to comment on Amar Singh's demand for a judicial inquiry into the shootout.
Amar Singh, visiting Jamia Nagar Saturday, had raised doubts about the police version of the shootout and had said: 'When authorities had decided to transfer Sharma, why was he sent to Jamia Nagar?'
The police had raided a home in Batla House suspecting that people connected with the Sep 13 serial bombings in the capital were hiding there.
