New Delhi, Oct 4 (IANS) Congress president Sonia Gandhi Saturday hit back at criticism of the government's handling of terrorism and also indicated the party's strategy for upcoming polls in various states and the general elections next year.

'Terrorism is a national problem and we should fight it together. Some parties are trying to play divisive politics in the name of fighting terrorism by targeting an entire community,' Gandhi said at a rally at the Chattarsal Stadium here.

The rally was organised by the Delhi government to distribute provisional regularisation certificates to unauthorised colonies.

The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson pointed out that the government's policies were 'common man-centric' and cited the rural employment guarantee scheme, the farm loan waiver and the India-US nuclear deal as its major achievements.
