Actor-politician Raj Babbar to join Congress

Agra, Oct 4 (IANS) MP and film star Raj Babbar is all set to join the Congress party Sunday with a number of his supporters.

Babbar Satruday scored a major success when he managed to secure defection of powerful Jat leader Raj Kumar Chahar from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to the Congress.

Babbar has represented Agra city in the Lok Sabha twice. But for the next time he has to try his luck from the adjoining Fatehpur Sikri (Rural) constituency as Agra city has been declared a reserved constituency.

After quitting the Samajwadi Party, Babbar launched Jan Morcha with blessings from former prime minister V.P. Singh.

However, the lone Jan Morcha legislator, Dharam Pal Singh, defected to Uttar Pradesh's ruling Bahujan Samaj Party two months ago.
