Washington, Nov 17 (ANI): A 21-year-old Hispanic man in Pennsylvania has been arrested for firing rifle shots near the White House last week.
Oscar Ortega-Hernandez, the man described as having a hatred for Washington and President Obama, was charged with felony possession of a dangerous weapon.
US authorities said that Ortega-Hernandez, whose permanent place of residence is unclear, has a record of arrests on minor counts in Texas, Utah and Idaho, but apparently has no links with any radical organizations, the Washington Post reports.
An official said the motive for the gunfire might have been simple anger.
"Ortega-Hernandez hates the president, he hates Washington, he hates society," the paper quoted the official, as saying.
According to the police, Ortega-Hernandez fired shots with an AK-47-style assault rifle on Friday, while in a car at 16th Street and Constitution Avenue.
Minutes later, he abandoned the car a short distance away, in the 2300 block of Constitution Avenue, and ran away.
The police said they found the rifle and an undisclosed number of spent shell casings in the car.
On Tuesday, four days after the gunfire, officials discovered at least one bullet hole in a window on the south side of the White House. (ANI)
