Brangelina visit 'torture' prison in Vietnam

London, Tue, 15 Nov 2011 ANI

London, Nov 15 (ANI): Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt visited Con Dao prison in Vietnam on Nov 13, where political prisoners were tortured and mutilated in the sixties and seventies.

The celebrity couple saw the tiny cramped "tiger cages" where the inmates were shackled and starved.

Jolie and Pitt have been in the country since Friday, when they flew out with all six of their children.

It is their first visit since they adopted their Vietnamese-born son Pax in 2007, who is now seven.

The children were spared the grim tour of the Can Dao island, off the Southern coast, which was used to house prisoners by the French colonialists before the South Vietnamese and the Americans took over during the Vietnam war.

The celebrity parents are keen to ensure their adopted children - Pax, Maddox and Zahara, keep in touch with the cultures they were born into.

"They are all learning about each other's cultures as well as being proud of their own. They all have their flags over their beds and their individual pride," the Sun quoted Jolie as saying.

Even though all six children have travelled with them, they are concentrating on Pax during their Vietnamese visit. (ANI)
