Bangalore, Nov.14 (ANI): Karnataka Chief Minister D. V. Sadananda Gowda has promised to take action against those who had "threatened" a senior police officer of the state's Lokayukta.
Jeevan Kumar V Gaonkar, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), had written a letter to the state Chief Secretary saying that he had been threatened by politicians.
But Gaonkar till now has not filed any police complaint against anybody.
Gowda's decision came a day after former Prime Minister Deve Gowda accepted talking to Gaonkar over phone, but denied charges that he had threatened him in connection with an investigation against his eldest son H. D. Balakrishna Gowda.
"Practically, the officer said that he had been put in an embarrassing position, so he can't continue his duty in the office, but he had not specifically filed a complaint against him. So I am just getting it investigated and I will look into the matter after getting the report from the police," Gowda told reporters in Bangalore.
Refuting charges of dissension in the Bharatiya Janata Party, Gowda said former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa would campaign for the party in the upcoming bye-election.
"I am telling that he is accompanying me and my party president and he campaigns in Bellary. He will stay there in Bellary for a week," added Gowda.
Rumours were floating that Yeddyurappa would not campaign for the party. (ANI)
