New Delhi, Nov 12(ANI): A unique art exhibition titled '100,000' was held in New Delhi to provide a platform to artists from across the country and an opportunity to buy art at a fixed price tag of 100,000 rupees.

It showcased the work of some 35 artists, both new and established, in an effort to make 'art' accessible to all.

The event was hosted by TAD Arts Pvt. Ltd.

"Basically there were two concepts behind it. The first one was create an art show without a price list. People come to an art show with a fixed price mind that paintings are probably going to be very exorbitant and out of reach. So, we want to take away that mindset completely. You come to an art show where everything is fixed. You find about the price and it's within reach. The second concept was to create luxury with in reach," said Maitali Baijal, art curator.

Some well know artists whose work was on display included Chandra Bhattacharjee, Kamar Alam, Rajan Krishnan and Amar Sultan.

But convincing the artists about the show was difficult for the organizers as work of Indian artists is being sold at huge sums both at home and abroad.

"I am trying to achieve with this show is that we try and disassociate ourselves from the price of the painting. We are trying to look at the work for what it is and enjoy it. Let the price be the second factor and that's how it is here. It was very difficult for this getting so many artists on board and convinced them to give price at this price bracket, it was very difficult. But I am very blessed, each of these artists have done a wonderful job of getting us beautiful work," said Niten Mehta, TAD Arts Pvt. Ltd. .he initiative to bring "luxury within reach" was well appreciated by Union Minister of Culture Selja Kumari, who stressed on the importance of promotion and display of artwork at public places in the country.

"When we go abroad... many of you have traveled around the world and when we see the art work at public places we do all appreciate it. I think the time has come when we need to put it together again and public places where people in large must feel proud of the place they live in, they stay or they visit and feel aesthetically drawn to that place," Kumari said.

For some art is a good investment, but there are many who buy art for its aesthetic value.

And, TAD Arts Pvt. Ltd. will next try to create Public Art - which is an initiative to take out art from the confines of the home into the public space. (ANI)
