Islamabad, Nov 12 (ANI): Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Zaka Ashraf has reportedly made an offer to former Pakistan Test skipper Ramiz Raja to take over as the COO of the board, official sources in the board have revealed.

"Ramiz is Ashraf's first choice and he has already discussed terms and conditions of the COO position with the former captain," The Daily Times quoted a source, as saying.

After retiring from cricket, Ramiz stepped into the media world becoming a commentator, expert and host in Pakistan and abroad. He is presently working as a commentator in the ongoing Pakistan-Sri Lanka series.

"The new chairman is willing to offer Ramiz a very lucrative package that will compensate the former Test captain for ending his media assignments and contracts if he takes over as COO," the source added.

Ramiz had worked as the chief executive of the board in 2003-2004 when Tauqir Zia and Sharharyar Khan were heading the board.

The source said that Ashraf was keen on appointing Ramiz because he believes that the latter's strong educational and professional background, clubbed together with his cricket expertise make him a perfect choice for the post. (ANI)
