2G scam: CBI to give UASL policy file to Subramanian Swamy

New Delhi, Nov. 8 (ANI): A Delhi court on Tuesday directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to give the certified copy of a file concerning 2G spectrum allocation to Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy, who is seeking prosecution of the then Finance Minister P. Chidambaram in the case.

The directions came after Swamy, who is the chief petitioner in the 2G spectrum case, told the court that the file relating to UASL (Unified Access Service Licence) policy regarding sale of equity (lock in period) was seized by the CBI in October 2009, but not placed on court's record along with the chargesheet.

Swamy later said that he would soon send a copy of the court's order to CBI Director Amar Pratap Singh.

"Court has given orders and said that after hearing the complainant I am satisfied that a certified copy of the aforesaid file will facilitate the prosecution of this complained case. Accordingly the CBI is directed to supply a certified copy of the file to the complainant at the earliest," Swamy told mediapersons here.

"So, now I will send this court's order to the Director of CBI and I will inspect that file. This file will prove that Raja (A Raja, former Telecom Minister) broke the law following the instructions of Chidambaram," he added.

Swamy further said that he would argue on the matter after studying the facts that were mentioned in the file on December 3 and prove it that Chidambaram is a co-accused in the multi-billion dollar telecom scam.

"A very important proof of the conspiracy done by Raja and Chidambaram was found that is why on December 03, I will debate to prove Chidambaram a co-accused," he said.

The telecom scam, one of India's biggest graft cases ever, may have cost 39.57 billion dollars in revenue to the public exchequer as per the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG).

Former Telecom Minister A. Raja was sacked in November last year and later arrested after being charged with giving away telecom licences in 2008 for a pittance, at meagre prices of 2001 in the CAG report. (ANI)
